Sir John Wheeler, 3rd Baronet (1905-2005)

Sir John Wheeler, 3rd Baronet, formerly Chairman and Managing Director, Raithby, Lawrence & Co. Ltd., of Leicester, died in April, 2005. He was aged 99.
John Hieron Wheeler was born 22 July, 1905, the second son of Sir Arthur Wheeler, 1st Baronet, High Sheriff of Leicester, 1922, who was created a Baronet in 1920.
He was educated at Charterhouse.
Career:- - >served in the Second World War, Volunteer trooper, RTR, 1941-45; had a career in the printing business; chairman and managing director of Raithby, Lawrence & Co, of Leicester, retired 1973; succeeded to the baronetcy on the demise of his elder brother, Sir Arthur Frederick Pullman Wheeler, 2nd Bt, in 1964.
He married in 1929, Gwendolen Alice, daughter of Alfred Ernest Oram, of Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire, by whom he had two sons, John Frederick, b. 3 May, 1933; and Benjamin, b. 1935. He is succeeded in the baronetcy by his elder son.
