Colonel Philip van Straubenzee

Colonel Philip van Straubenzee,DSO, JP, DL, of Spennithorne House, Leyburn, North Yorkshire, of that BLG family (descended from a Dutch family) died 20 Oct 2005. He was aged 93. He was born at Johannesburg 2 March 1912; and educated at Aysgarth and Sherborne; he was a deputy lieutenant of the North Riding from 1959; he married in 1954, Imogen Clutterbuck (who died in London, 4 June, 1980) daughter of Maj-Gen Walter Clutterbuck, of Hornby Castle, Bedale; by whom he had 2 daughters, Henrietta (who m. 21 May 1977, Nicholas Browne), and Joanna (who m. 1981, Gerald Charles William Farrell, a grandson of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey).
