The engagement was announced 6 February, 2007, between Stephen F. Stubbings, son of Mr and Mrs William Stubbings, of.-North Yorkshire, and Laura Jane Benson (b. 1980), scion of the LG family of Benson of Stanway House, daughter of Mr Robert Charles Benson (b. 17 Nov 1952), of Celleron, by his former wife the former Lady Jane Helen Harbord Lowther (b. 1947), of Askham, Cumbria, and granddaughter of the late 7th Earl of Lonsdale (1922-2006).
Laura's great-grandfather, Guy Holford Benson (b. 1888) married in 1921, Lady Violet Catherine, widow of Hugo Francis, Lord Elcho (of the Earls of Wemyss), and second daughter of the 8th Duke of Rutland.
