Isaac and Ida Shard [born 2009]

_. Lady Emily Tsering Shard [nee Lascelles, born 23 Nov, 1975], wife of Matthew Shard, and scion of the Earls of Harewood, gave birth to twins, a son, Isaac, and a daughter, Ida, in 2009.

Lady Emily is the eldest child & only dau of David Henry George Lascelles, 8th Earl of Harewood (b Oct 1950), by his first wife the former Margaret Rosalind Messenger (b 1948), and a granddaughter of the 7th Earl of Harewood, KBE (b 1923), a first cousin of HM The Queen.

Lady Emily Shard, born before the marriage of her parents, and legitimated upon their marriage, is, however, not in the line of succession to the Throne.

Hannah R. Lort-Phillips (nee Bulmer), wife of Captain Harry P.F. Lort-Phillips, 9th/12th Royal Lancers (Prince of Wales's), scion of the Lort-Phillips family of Lawrenny, gave birth to a daughter, Sophie Rosanna, 15 December, 2009. Harry is descended from the Barons Grenfell, & is son of Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs Patrick Lort-Phillips, of Palm House, Market Lavington, Wiltshire. Hannah is a daughter of Mr and Mrs David Bulmer, of Brilley Court, Herefordshire.

Death of Rear-Admiral Sam Salt, who commanded HMS Sheffield in the Falklands War

_.Rear-Admiral James Frederick Thomas George (Sam) Salt, CB, scion of
the Salt Baronets (cr UK 1899, of Standon) who died 3 December 2009,
aged 69, commanded HMS Sheffield - the first British warship to be
sunk by enemy action after the Second World War

James Frederick Thomas George Salt, always known as Sam, was born 19
April 1940, six months before his father Lt-Cdr George Stevenson Salt
(b 1908), was lost in the submarine Triad which sailed from Malta for
war patrol in the Gulf of Taranto and was never heard from again.
Sam's mother was the former Lilian Bridget Francis.
Rear-Adml Salt married in1975, Penelope Walker, daughter of Anthony
Walker. She survives him with their three sons; another son
predeceased him. Sam's sister is Lady Spencer-Nairn, wife of the 3rd
Baronet, &c.

He was b 1929, a yr son of the 1st Viscount Dunrtossil, GCMG, MC, PC, QC (1893-1961), by his wife the former (Catherine) Allison Swan, CStJ (d 1983); educ at Fettes; High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, 1983; married 1958, Frances Mary, dau of Wilfrid Rippon Snow, of Adelaide, South Australia, and had issue, a son (i) William, b 1960,and 2 daughters, (i) Alexandra (Lexi), b 1962, and Joanna Allison (Phreddie) b 1964; he also leaves grandchildren, Ruairidh, Fergus and Arabella. Memorial Service will be held at the Church of St. Giles, Maisemore, Gloucestershire on Friday, 8th January, 2010.

_.The Lady Cornwallis, wife of the 3rd Baron, died 4 December, 2009. As Mrs Stephanie Coleman, widow of Anthony Coleman, she married Lord Cornwallis, OBE, DL (b 29 Jun 1921), as his 2nd wife, 6 Apr 2002. She is survived by her husband and by her children from her 1st marriage, Lisa, Marianna, Katharine and Antonia. The funeral takes place at St Mary's, Goudhurst, 14 Dec.

Death of Mary-Grace, Lady Hutchison, widow of Sir Peter, 2nd Bt

_.Mary-Grace, Lady Hutchison (née Seymour), who died 5 December, 2009,
aged 85, was the widow of Sir Peter Hutchison, 2nd Baronet, and was a
scion of the Culme-Seymour Baronets. She was b 6 Feb 1924, dau of the
Very Rev Algernon Giles Seymour, by his wife the former Ida Grace
Hammick, and married Sir Peter, 16 Jul 1949. He died 16 Jan 1998.
Private funeral. Thanksgiving Service Saturday 6th February 2010, at
St Mary's Church, Woodbridge.

Maud von Hofmannsthal, granddaughter for the Earl of Snowdon

_.The Lady Frances von Hofmannsthal (née Armstrong-Jones) b 1979, wife of Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal, gave birth to a daughter, Maud Dolores Diamond, 1 December, 2009, a sister for Rex Antony Octavian, who was b 2 May, 2008. Rodolphe is a son of Mr Octavian Charles Hugo von Hofmannsthal (b. 1946), and Mrs von Hofmannsthal, and Lady Frances is the only child of the 1st Earl of Snowdon, GCVO (b. 1930), by his 2nd wife, the former Lucy Mary Davies.

Rodolphe von Hofmannsthal is a great-grandson of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey. Rodople's father is a son of Raimund von Hofmannsthal (d. 1974), who married (as his second wife) in 1939, the Lady Elisabeth Hester Mary Paget (b. 1916), daughter of the 6th Marquess of Anglesey (1885-1947)

Clark, & Lara Sophie Elizabeth Agius (b 1980), descended from the Barons Rothschild (Cr UK 1885), younger daughter of Marcus Ambrose Paul Agius, of London and Exbury, by his wife the former Katherine Juliet de Rothschild (b 1949), dau of Edmund Leopold de Rothschild (b 1916), a grandson of Leopold de Rothschild, CVO, whose brother was cr a Baronet in 1847. My ancient BLG shows George Smith-Bosanquet's marriage, 26 Jul 1958, to Angela Margery, only child of late J.E.H. Moore. Daughter, Emma Louise, was b 25 Mar 1961. Records show that Mr Smith-Bosanquet wed Wendy Clark at Chelsea, in the Spring of 1971. A son, Jacob George S. Smith-Bosanquet, was b at Bury St Edmunds in 1979. -==-

_.The Lady Hilaria Agnes Gibbs, who died 19 November, 2009, aged 101, was a scion of the Earls of Mount Edgecumbe, dau of the 6th Earl (1873-1965), by his wife, the former Lilian Agnes Arkwright (d 1964).

She was b 16 January, 1908; married 1933, Lt.Col. Denis Lucius Alban Gibbs, DSO* (1905-1984), scion of the Barons Aldenham, son of the Rev. Reginald Gibbs (1867-1940), by his wife the former Lucia McCausland. She is survived by 3 daughters (a daughter predeceased her).

Lord Hawke, 11th Baron, dies aged 59

_.The Lord Hawke, 11th Baron, died 2 December, 2009, after a short
illness. He was 59.

Edward George Hawke was b 25 Jan 1950, son of the 10th Baron Hawke
(1904-92), by his 2nd wife the former Georgette Mary Davidson;
succeeded to the peerage (Cr GB, 1776) on his father's demise, 19 Aug
1992. Married 4 Sep 1993, Bronwen Mae James, dau. of William T James,
and is survived by her and by a son, and heir, the Hon William Martin
Theodore Hawke (b. 23 Jun 1995), and a daughter, the Hon Alice Julia
Hawke (b. 8 Feb 1999).

Noël Margaret Jephson Purdon Coote 1908-2009

_.Noël Margaret Jephson Purdon Coote, who has died, in her 101st year,
was a scion of the Stracey Baronets (cr UK 1818), & was wife of the
late Charles Purdon Coote (1875-1954), of Mallow, Co Cork, scion of
the Coote Baronets (cr Ireland 1621), devoted mother, grandmother,
great grandmother. She was b 1908, dau of Lt-Col Ernest Henry Denne
Stracey (1871-1948), by his wife the former Faith Dorothy Beatrice
Mounteney Popham (d 1965); & married Mr Purdon Coote in 1933. She
leaves issue, inc dau, Nicola Harriette, wife since 1959 of the 22nd
Baron Clinton. The Funeral Service at Chelsea Old Church, London on
Wednesday 2nd December. Service and burial will follow in Ireland on
Friday 4th December at St James' Church, Mallow, Co Cork.

Death of Lady Trevelyan, widow of Lord Trevelyan, KG

_The Baroness Trevelyan, who died 24 November, 2009, aged 96, was the widow of the Baron Trevelyan, KG, GCMG, CIE, OBE (1905-85). She was b circa 1913 as Violet Margaret (Peggie) Bartholemew, only dau of General Sir William Henry Bartholemew, GCB, CMG, DSO (1877-1962) by his wife the former Violet Alice Penton; and married the then Humphrey Trevelyan, scion of the Trevelyan Baronets (cr 1662), in 1937. Her husband, created a life peer in 1968 and a Knight of the Garter in 1974, died in 1985. She leaves a dau, the Hon Catherine Mary (Kate), and grandchildren, Allan Busse, Jan Busse, and Nicola Busse.
Funeral 14 December 2009, at Christ Church, Victoria Road, W8.
